Five Rivers Child Care included in eminent national child care industry review

national child care industry review

Earlier in the year, we were featured in the Parliamentary Review for our industry-leading approach to developing tailored programmes to support vulnerable children and young people.

The publication, which provides independent political commentary, is used to inform policy across the UK and focuses on organisations that have shown a dedication to best practice.

We were chosen to be included in the review after Richard Cross, our head of assessment and therapy, gave a presentation at the House of Lords in 2018.

In the Parliamentary Review, Richard explained how our personalised approach to providing care for looked-after children is setting us apart in the industry.

For nearly 30-years, we have pioneered a unique approach to working with some of society’s most vulnerable children and young people. Learning from the ineffectiveness of generic care programmes, we incorporate psychological assessments and have invested heavily in neuroscience research to support developmental, attachment, trauma-informed and personalised care.

By providing dedicated training support for our foster carers we’re able to deliver a bespoke care package and therapeutic programme based on the needs and experiences of each individual child, which helps to deliver positive outcomes for children and young adults in our care.

Speaking about our inclusion, Richard said: “To be included in the Parliamentary Review is a real achievement for Five Rivers Child Care and is testament to the quality of our services. We are hopeful that the insight into our specialised and tailored offering for the country’s most vulnerable young people will lead to policy changes and the adoption of these methods across the sector.

“Five Rivers was founded on the principle that every single looked-after child deserves to receive care that is tailored to their individual needs. Only by looking at a child’s individual circumstances can we truly provide support that helps them deal with previous trauma experience and move forward positively with their lives.”

There is currently an estimated shortfall of 6,800 foster families across England, and we are looking to recruit foster carers to help support children and young people in need of a loving home.
