Five Rivers provide the best local support for carers in the South & South East of England. As a social enterprise and independent local foster care agency, we want to ensure that foster carers are recruited, supported and rewarded for the crucial role they take on when they become part of the Five Rivers fostering family.

We provide our foster parents with specialist training and round the clock support, as well as offering generous fostering pay and allowances. Working as a team, our foster carers provide foster homes to meet a range of needs for children, young people and families, with the aim of keeping them safe and improving their lives both now and in the future.

The range of needs presented by children, young people and families vary so much, foster carers may be assessed and approved to undertake some or all of the fostering roles below.

    As a social enterprise and independent provider, we offer a highly competitive fostering allowance up to £28,000 per year with tax free benefits.
  • 24/7 Support
    With our 24-hour helpline, our highly qualified staff will always be on hand.
  • Specialist Training
    We provide a free, comprehensive training package to all our foster carers. Starting with the Skills to Foster course, our training is local and accessible and offers opportunities for specialist career development.
  • Foster Care Communities
    Our carers benefit from membership to local support groups, allowing them to meet other foster carers and share experiences. Activities for both foster children and carers own children.

Becoming a foster carer

We need to recruit foster carers in Wiltshire, Bournemouth, Dorset, East Sussex, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, South Oxfordshire, and West Sussex in both urban and rural areas to ensure we provide local foster placements to those who desperately need them.

Our South & South East offices are based in Salisbury and the Isle of Wight and our staff work from their home. This is to ensure that they can provide local support to our foster carers wherever they live in the areas we cover.

There are some basic criteria you’ll need to meet to be considered as a foster carer with Five Rivers Child Care. You will need to be:

  • Passionate about making a difference for a child or young person
  • Over the age of 21.
  • Able to offer a furnished spare room that is not used by anybody else.
  • Committed to undergo training and development.
  • Able to work in partnership with the team involved in caring for the child/young person.
