Have you ever considered fostering a child or young person in need, but have questions to ask before taking the next steps?
Come and meet our Sheffield team to find out more about the incredible career as a foster carer and the opportunity to join an excellent team focused on making a positive change in children’s lives.
On Wednesday 16 October and Saturday 19 October, our Midlands and North team – which has received the Ofsted ‘good’ judgement – will be hosting an information event at the Hillsborough Leisure Centre in Sheffield, and will be able to answer any queries you may have.
Usma Saeed, one of our foster carers, will also be there to share her first-hand experiences of what it’s like to foster.
Usma became a foster carer over 5 years ago, having been a primary school teaching assistant for over 12 years, and deciding she would like to extend her care outside of the classroom.
Throughout her fostering career, Usma has fostered 18 children and young people on a mixture of long-term, respite and short-term placements. Usma is currently foster parent to four boys, two of whom will stay in the family’s care until they are adults, and the other two, who are siblings, as a short-term placement.
With a current shortage of 7,220 foster families across England, the need for foster carers like Usma to support young vulnerable people is more pressing than ever.
If you would like to know more about how you can help, the personal and career benefits of fostering, or would just like an informal chat with our team, you are warmly welcome to join us on Wednesday or Saturday.
If you can’t make the event but would still like to find out more about foster care, call 0345 266 0272 or email carer.enquiries@five-rivers.org
