Fountain House, Leeds, has attained an Ofsted rating of “Outstanding”. The service has been specifically designed to meet the needs of younger children, aged between 7 and 10 on admission, who require a period of intense therapeutic residential care. This is embedded within an integrated package of care, clinical intervention and education to help them overcome adverse childhood experiences that have led to them live away from their families.
The children benefit greatly from a key team of staff who are child-centred, determined and dedicated in ensuring that the children have enjoyable childhoods and make progress within a nurturing, family-style environment.”
“Placing a young person at Fountain House was the best decision I ever made.”

Everything that we do at Fountain House is focused on meeting the needs of our young people, in a practice that is child-centred, trauma-informed and therapeutic. Our interventions promote learning, growth and development with the clear goal of good outcomes. Our home provides a safe and nurturing environment based on a “planned environment” ideology that is full of love and laughter, and where everyone can feel safe and valued.
“I am safe here. Staff would die to protect me, I know this.”

Our model is informed by research into child development, trauma, attachment and neuroscience. It guides a highly trained team who draw on Five Rivers’ skills as reflective practitioners who are highly attuned to both the verbal and non-verbal communication of our young people. Equipped with this understanding, we’re able to adapt our work and environment to best meet their needs, and provide them with the platform they need to thrive.
“It is the meeting of emotional needs where Fountain House excels. From my observations, this is due to the commitment of the staff at FH, their understanding of the young person’s needs and their unfailing care and loyalty.”
Regulation 44 inspector, 2017
Fountain House also offers education to Key Stage 2 and provides a safe, nurturing and enriching sanctuary, designed to reclaim childhood and act as a therapeutic bridge to restore children to their full potential.
Highly individualised care is provided by the explicitly personalised support each child receives from the staff team. The frequent assessment of each child’s care and progress makes sure that the goals and targets set for them to grow and develop are achieved and sustained.”
“Fountain House is the best provision I have worked with, both in written work, relationships and sharing information. The quality of care is excellent.”
