The Spires School celebrates its ‘Good’ Ofsted with a Talent Show

The Spires School Talent Show

The Spires school celebrated the end of term and the recent Ofsted inspection with a ‘Spire’s got Talent’ show, with pupils and teachers taking part. Our Salisbury-based school welcomed many visitors to the event who were treated to performances by ‘Dolly and Kenny’, along with many other acts. The small, specialist school serves families in south Wiltshire, and is for children who find it too difficult to manage in mainstream education. It provides support for those attending on a part-time or full-time basis.

The newly appointed Head Teacher Louise Bethel said “Many of the children find social interaction challenging. It can be really difficult to maintain eye contact with people for example, so it was remarkable to see them taking part and enjoying their successes as performers. These children deserve happy and fun events to mark their hard work when they have persevered”.

The Spires has recently been rated ‘Good’ in all areas following its latest Ofsted inspection. The Ofsted report commented, “The Spires is a warm welcoming school”

Pupils often arrive at the school with significant gaps in their education. The Ofsted report highlights how “relationships between staff and pupils are inspiring….enabling pupils to thrive in an environment where they feel safe, nurtured and well looked after”, something The Spires prides itself on. Building relationships and ensuring stability is essential in enabling pupils to learn and thrive.

The Headteacher, described as “inspiring” and “amazing”, has taken a leading role in supporting the school in developing a “culture of learning” and nurturing a resilient staff group who have a shared vision for the pupils and the school.

Louise said, “It was great to end the year with this celebration; as this academic year draws to a close, we are looking forward to next year”.
