Louise Bartel
Clinical Practitioner
Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist
I have been working with children and adolescents with complex needs since 2002, in a variety of roles within Residential Care, Education and Mental Health.
I have a passion for working directly with young people and the wider system around them. This integrated approach involves sharing knowledge and understanding regarding trauma, attachment and associated needs through reflective practice and more formal training opportunities.
I have presented at various national and regional conferences, as well as delivering trainings to various childcare, mental health and education professionals. Training topics have included Managing anger; Supporting grief and bereavement; Understanding self-harm; Working with developmental age; Managing anxiety; Working creatively with trauma; Young people and the digital world; Multi-disciplinary practice and systemic thinking in Child Psychotherapy; and many others. In 2012, I contributed a chapter to Margot Sunderland’s book ‘Helping Teenagers with Anger and Low Self-Esteem’.
In addition, I contribute to the Child Psychotherapy MA teaching programme at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (London), as a lecturer, tutor, examiner, and marker. I also have my own small private practice.
I am a registered member of the UKCP and BACP.
