Fostering in the South West

The Five Rivers fostering teams in the South West are experienced and passionate. We’re committed to ensuring that foster carers are recruited, supported, developed and rewarded for the crucial role they take on when they become part of the Five Rivers fostering family.

“We have an energetic and committed staff group who support our foster carers using a multi-disciplinary approach. We invest in our training and supervision to ensure our carers are fully supported”
– Adrian Chappell, Registered Manager for Five Rivers South West fostering region.

Working as a team, our foster carers provide foster homes to meet a range of needs for children, young people and families, with the aim of keeping them safe and improving their lives both now and in the future.

Becoming a foster carer

We need to recruit foster carers in an area stretching from the Devon and Somerset border to Bristol, Gloucester, Swindon and their surrounding areas, in both urban and rural areas to ensure we provide local foster placements to those who need them.

Our offices are in Bristol, Taunton and Gloucester, ensuring that we have staff who are based within easy travelling distance to foster carer’s homes wherever they live in the area we cover.

A dedicated annual foster carer training programme equips all carers for the task at hand. All our carers also have the opportunity to attend accredited therapeutic training that offers a formal qualification on completion. Monthly foster carer support groups, and regular activities for foster carers and young people, are further support experiences throughout the year.

If you are interested in joining the Five Rivers team of foster carers and staff to provide a foster home to transform the life of a child, young person or family in your local area, find out more about becoming a foster carer with Five Rivers and book a call today.

Hear what our foster carers have to say

“The support from social workers is good and we feel like we have been welcomed into the local carer community” Glyn and Lorrain, Foster Carers

“After researching many fostering agencies, my husband and I chose Five Rivers for many reasons but mainly for their commitment to their carers. Through Five Rivers we are able to access a vast range of training that can only enhance our abilities” Foster Carer.

“We judged that your agency is a very good one” and “Children have good relationships with their foster carers. They trust them and are supported to achieve their potential emotionally and educationally and to improve their physical health. Placement stability rates are good compared to the national average, and a third of children are looked after by their carers for two years or more.” Ofsted
