Wellness in Nature – Activities for Earth Day 2023

One of our big incentives as a Social Enterprise is to actively minimise our environmental impact in the communities where we work and live. As an organisation, colleagues are encouraged to use local suppliers, keep waste to a minumum and limit travel where possible. It is important that we educate the children within our Five Rivers family to learn about the environment around them and how they can take positive actions in their own lives.

Last year, we launched a Five Rivers Environmental Action Group, led by Assistant Psychologist, Bethany Burnett and the Communications Team, to champion the importance of caring for the environment with easy ways in which our young people can get involved!

During April 2022, we ran an art competition with the winner, J, from our Bromsgrove Fostering Office creating a fantastic poster using recyclable materials! This was followed by The Big Clean litter pick over the summer for World Environmental Day.

This year for the Earth Day 2023 theme ‘Invest in our Planet’ we want to focus this idea around investing in ourselves and our own wellness within our environments. Having self awareness of our wellbeing and the world around us, gives us a better chance to create a positive footprint on the planet, as best we can.

We have put together an activity sheet for all our young people to have a go at over the Easter holidays! artwork

Download the activity sheet here and print it off to complete. Once done, take a picture of it or scan it and send it to us at communications@five-rivers.org or post it to our facebook or twitter pages!
