Children raise funds for life-saving air ambulance

Five Rivers Child Care Fostering services have raised £95 for the Air Ambulance East Midlands with a sponsored 6 mile nature walk around the whole perimeter of the East Midlands Airport.

When Sue Murrie, the local Fostering Support Worker in Chesterfield saw the walk advertised she decided that this would be a good opportunity for carers and looked after children to participate in a recreational activity that would build bonds between carers, staff and looked after children whilst raising money for a great cause.

The event attracted carers and children who sported yellow Air Ambulance t-shirts and had a great time combining wildlife and plane-spotting and contributing to the Air Ambulance Funds.

The Air Ambulance helicopters operate from the airport and provide a vital life-saving service. The operation is funded entirely by charitable donations from companies and individuals who raise £60,000 per month to keep each helicopter in the sky.

They have published a thank you here:  https://theairambulanceservice.org.uk/event-news/thank-you-five-rivers-foster-carers/
