Nadder House at a glance
Nadder House is an exceptional semi-detached house situated in a rural setting in Wiltshire, surrounded by history and character. The house is spacious, warm, and welcoming so that all our young people and children can feel safe and comfortable while living with us. We have created a cosy living room ready for movie nights and game nights, a snug for relaxing in, a garden and a large kitchen and dining room where young people can come together to share meals, build routines, and feel a true sense of belonging.
There are well-equipped bathrooms and four bedrooms, each of which can be personalised to reflect our children and young people’s individual styles, helping them feel truly at home. Our location offers a vast range of activities which the young people in our care can enjoy.
The team at Nadder House
The team at Nadder House are all level 3 or above qualified and all have lots of experience working with teenagers in residential children’s homes. Our team recognise the difficulties children and young people face, which is why we ensure our home is a safe and nurturing space for them. We work with our children and young people, supporting them through any trauma they may have faced by working closely with our in-house Clinician, from our specialist Clinical Services Team. They will visit our home once a month. The Clinician will be there to support the team and give advice to the home on any support the young people and children may need.
Our team also have access to our Clinician for consultation weekly, this will include bespoke workshops and clinical supervision for the team, it’s important for the home that there is consistency, and the Clinician can observe and advise on how best to support the team.
Outcomes for children at Nadder House
At Nadder House we support children to create, adapt and fulfil their own Pathway Plan. As part of their support, we ensure that any goals children wish to achieve before moving on to fully independent living is clearly outlined in their plans. We then empower children to take the lead in achieving these aspirations, with guidance from support staff when needed.
The team are all trained in PACE therapeutic parenting and use Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy and love to support children to form connections with others. This is key in helping children to understand appropriate relationships, the importance of community, and the ability to identify and use the social skills needed in adulthood.
In order to ensure children are achieving desired outcomes, we record key conversations, instances of independence skills being built and used, and safeguarding concerns to build a deeper understanding of the young person and identify areas of strength and areas for development. Each young person’s Pathway Plan will be reviewed on a 6-month basis, with new goals added and achieved goals noted.
There are clear support plans and risk assessments in place so that support for children remains consistent and considered, allowing them every opportunity to thrive. Young people’s records are reviewed by management and shared with Social Workers to ensure there is robust oversight of their journey and progress.
