Fostering with us

As a social enterprise, we do things differently. We invest in research, training and supervision for our social work teams so they can support you.

A local team in Worksop means:

  • Face-to-face support from a local team who knows you.
  • Fostering celebrations, activities and support groups.
  • Friendships with fellow local foster carers.

Meet Foster Carers Maxine and Wayne

For Maxine and Wayne, fostering isn’t a career, it’s a way of life.

The couple have provided a caring home for 14 children in their five years as Foster Carers and helped several groups of brothers and sisters transition into adoption with their forever families, as well as offering a short-term home for others.

“Five Rivers really support the whole family; our oldest child needed support, and our Supervising Social Worker, got them the help they needed.”

“The initial process to become a Foster Carer was easy, and it was almost like therapy; it taught me to reflect. I enjoyed that process so much and I found out so much about myself. ”
“We’re fairly new to fostering; we only went through panel recently, but I have to say it has been a really positive experience for us. We absolutely love it. ”

“My Social Worker at Five Rivers knows that I am neurodivergent, and they know the kind of support that I need. If I call my Social Worker, they always call me back because they know when I call, I need support and if they are unavailable, they transfer me to a duty Social Worker; so, I always have someone there for me. It is important for me to have that because as someone with neurodivergence I need that support and have someone there on call to help.”
“Choosing the right organisation was the hardest part because there are just so many and there is such a big demand for Foster Carers. But once I registered with Five Rivers, it was easy sailing. Five Rivers have been good to me.”
