Sky Vale is a school based in beautiful surroundings on the border of North Somerset and Bristol. We are a small independent school supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a warm, safe and supportive setting. We offer a bespoke curriculum for children aged 6-18 years, and will tailor our offer to the specific needs of every child. We are aspirational for all of our children who deserve the opportunity to excel in all aspects of school life.

Our Mission

To empower and enable children to become happy and confident learners who have strong sense of belonging.
To support children to eliminate barriers and self-doubt providing equity of opportunity in school, work and life.

Our Values

As part of the Five Rivers family our RAISE values permeate everything that we do. We are Respectful, Adaptable, act with Integrity, Support one another, and strive for Excellence in everything that we do.

Our Facilities

We are located in a beautiful, rural setting in Redhill, just outside Bristol with excellent links to Bristol and North Somerset. The newly opened school has been designed specifically to foster a trauma informed, calm, happy, therapeutic environment. We have a number of learning areas with traditional classrooms alongside breakout and therapeutic spaces, a swimming pool, and exciting opportunities to design, develop and grow into our wonderful school.
We believe that a happy child is a successful one. We are committed to providing a positive, safe, and stimulating environment for children to learn, and feel valued. We intend for all children to enjoy their learning, achieve, and become independent life-long learners.

Our Curriculum

Sky Vale School and our staff have high aspirations for our children. Our curriculum is designed around individual children, focused on a broad and balanced offer that follows the national curriculum and includes the opportunity to gain GCSE qualifications alongside other accredited courses that enable our children to be prepared for life beyond school.
Our location allows easy access to both the city of Bristol, and the countryside of the Mendip Hill’s. We use both of these invaluable resources to allow children access to the vibrancy and historic diversity of Bristol, and the calm beauty of the North Somerset countryside.

1 ACE Provision

Sky Vale School also have an outreach alternative provision called 1ACE. Our unique `school without walls’ offers child-centred, bespoke education packages to children and young people. 1ACE is attached to the school and is designed for pupils who are not yet ready to access education in a classroom setting. These pupils are taught in community settings such as youth and community centres and have 1:1 or 2:1 staffing. They also work on life skills, emotional regulation and have a curriculum that is personalised and bespoke to the individual pupil.

Trauma Informed

Sky Vale staff are trained to work therapeutically, using trauma-informed strategies with pupils, to recognise potential triggers for the individual children they work with. We have an a therapist who attends our site weekly, providing direct therapy to pupils who require it. In addition, our therapist offers consultations and reflective practice to our staff team and facilitates some of our team training.
