Nicky Spencer-Hutchings
Clinical Practitioner
Occupational Therapist
I am an Occupational Therapist, trainer, facilitator and consultant specialising in systemic and interpersonal trauma sensitive practices. I have a particular interest and experience in understanding and working with marginalised families and children and have spent a lot of my career working therapeutically with children and young people struggling at school and disengaged from mainstream services. I was a senior leader of a SEMH residential school responsible for the therapeutic, family and multi-agency provision and developed a therapeutic outreach service for those young people who could not access any formal education.
I have also worked extensively with parents/carers, leaders, practitioners and education staff in all sectors and all walks of life offering consultancy, strategic support, supervision and training. I have a particular interest in neurodiversity, sensory and somatic work and finding opportunities for people to find their unique place in the world and to tell their own story. I am excited by the Compassionate Inquiry approach, and I believe in supporting the development of healthy, resilient communities as an essential requirement for growth and recovery for all.
I am an adopted parent of 2 children, have fostered, have supported the care of an unaccompanied minor and grew up in a family that fostered.
