The home
Namwera is a beautiful, detached bungalow in the village of Darite, in Cornwall. Darite is a small distance away from the town of Liskeard, and surrounded by the moors of Bodmin, with sheep and horses roaming free across the fields.
An area of outstanding natural beauty Namwera offers a wonderful sized garden with a patio, to enable children and adults to play games, socialise, eat and just to sit and enjoy the peaceful, tranquillity of the village. As well as this, the adults at Namwera encourage and support hobbies, in and out of the home, and love to go on day trips and activities. We aim to encourage our children to reach their full potential through identifying their strengths, promoting their passions and interests and giving them access to as many positive life opportunities as possible. The homes is a warm and welcoming environment for children to feel safe, loved and cared for.

Carers hold or are working towards their QCF Level 4 in residential childcare (Diploma) with our current team, having over 38 years experience between them, in residential childcare. There is always an adequate level of first aid trained people on shift every day to meet the basic health care needs of the children in the home.
Regular training takes place for carers in +Pro Active approaches and safeguarding amongst others. The carers working at Namwera House have a good understanding of the needs of children with trauma and are experienced in helping them to manage their difficulties.
Carers work alongside the Director of Clinical Services, and our in-house Psychologist to develop integrated care and treatment plans alongside providing therapeutic interventions such as therapeutic parenting and play-based interventions.
The home also offers intensive support in matching and transitional work at the end of the child’s placement to enable the child to maintain a ‘forever family’ long term placement. The team pride themselves on attention to detail, to ensure Namwera House is a home. They are committed to ensuring that when it is time to leave, children will do so knowing that they will always be loved.
