Hey guys, Benny here! I am back with another monthly blog post – I am bear-y excited to make this a special one, all about the Sons and Daughters month. We have been celebrating the work of Sons and Daughters all this month here at Five Rivers through a special podcast series and even some online events!

Sons & Daughters Month

Sons and Daughters month is all about celebrating the birth sons and daughters of fostering families and the bear-illiant work that they do to help fostered children and young people to adjust and connect with their new fostering family!

I have been enjoying listening to the latest Care to Listen? series of paw-dcasts, that launched earlier this month! So far there have been 3 episodes all about Sons and Daughters, with the sons and daughters of fostering families themselves and care experienced people. The topics vary from how positive friendships can grow from a connection between fostered children and sons and daughters, as discussed in Episode 2 and how the sons and daughters of fostering families have positively impacted the care experience of the fostered children and created a sense of belonging for them – like in episode 3! Make sure to listen here and watch out for brand new episodes every week!

I have also been very excited to take part in the Sons and Daughters Celebration evening over Zoom, with all the regional teams who took part, to show their thanks to the sons and daughters. It was an enjoyable time and a great way to commemorate Sons and Daughters month – here’s a screenshot of me in the Zoom call!

It has been great seeing Five Rivers using the o-paw-tunity of Sons and Daughters Month to thank them!
