Excellent Feedback from our new starters in the Residential Service
At Five Rivers Child Care, we’re committed to ensuring that all of our staff feel supported and happy right from the start of their Five Rivers career. We know that staff who feel valued and supported are better able to provide exceptional care to our children and young people. This is why as part of our approach (The ATIC Model™), we have not only a child’s pathway, but also a staff pathway. This is informed by some of the current and relevant theories and approaches that certify that our staff are equipped to provide healing relational care, and includes a unique approach to developing and maintaining professional resilience when working with traumatised children.
To help us to continue to provide exceptional support to our teams, we ask all new starters to complete a feedback survey, which covers areas including:
- What attracted them to Five Rivers.
- The recruitment and interview process.
- Training experiences.
- How well they’ve been supported.
- How they’ve found the role so far.
We’re proud to share some of the feedback they’ve given over the last few months:
82% of new starters gave us the full five stars score for how supported they’ve felt in their roles, with a further 73% giving five stars for how well they’ve integrated into their teams.
New starters in our Residential service provided high praise on how they’ve found the role so far, with comments including:
“It has been great. I had some shadow shifts and am now starting shifts. My team are very friendly and helpful. I have only been in this company for one month, but I feel more at home than my last three-year child care placement. Very happy I got this job and am looking forward to learning more about my role. Lots of advice and guidance and amazing training.”
“I love my job. I am happy to say that at two weeks in I was able to say it is the best job I have ever had in terms of job satisfaction and work-life balance. It challenges me positively and I look forward to coming to work. I feel that I am learning so much and can apply skills and knowledge learned to other areas of my life.”
They also spoke highly of our behavioural management training, +ProActive Approaches, which they completed over a five-day period before beginning work in the home. Feedback included:
“It was fantastic. Very down to earth and it has helped me to feel confident when dealing with incidents at work. Made me feel that there is always someone there who I can talk to if needed.”
“I found the course really useful and informative. I felt as though it gave me a really solid understanding of where the young people are coming from and of their behaviours. I feel like it equipped me well to keep the young people and myself safe at work. I felt very confident coming into the home following the course and use something I have learnt on it every day.”
Reflecting on the feedback given, Five Rivers’ Head of HR, Kate Bromfield said “All feedback is good feedback and I am of course particularly delighted with these scores and positivity from our new starters in the residential service. As an Investors in People Gold-accredited organisation, we work hard to give all of our employees the training and support they need to thrive and it’s great to see that investment have such a positive effect.”
