We are seeking a People Director who will be a Strategic and Operational Leader with accountability for overseeing the HR, Recruitment, L&D and H&S services across Five Rivers Child Care and its Partner Agencies. This new role will play a vital role in creating our Culture Playbook, designing our Talent Acquisition Strategy, enhancing our Employee Value Proposition and developing our Culture of Excellence through encouraging high standards, continuous improvement, and a commitment to achieving organisational goals, where our employees are supported and encouraged to become experts in their roles and areas of expertise.
Location
Based in our Head Office in Salisbury, Wiltshire, the role will require travel across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
• Play an active role, as a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team, in driving continuous improvement of our employee experience and HR processes.
• Lead a team of HR professionals, providing guidance and coaching and mentoring to achieve organisational goals and supporting their effective performance and professional growth.
• Lead our Heads of Service and Operational Managers to develop effective workforce planning strategies.
• Develop and execute our People Strategies aligned with our goals and values, including collaborating with stakeholders to create meaningful and compliant policies.
• Develop and implement our Employee Performance Management Systems, including goal-setting, performance evaluations, and career development plans.
• Oversee and assure the quality of our safer recruitment and selection process.
• Oversee and support the management of employee relations issues, ensuring we address concerns, resolve conflicts, and promote a positive work culture.
• Lead our Learning & Development provision, enhancing employee skills, ensuring that the learning outcomes are delivered effectively and directly support our strategic aims.
• Lead our efforts to create a diverse and inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued and respected.
• Enhance employee satisfaction and engagement by implementing effective initiatives and benefits programs. These include regular employee satisfaction surveys, gathering valuable feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
• Organise company-wide events, workshops, and forums to promote community, collaboration, and shared purpose.
• Ensure company compliance with employment regulations and standards within our sector, including Health and Safety, Safer Recruitment, and mandatory learning requirements.

We are looking for a Supervising Social Worker to work in our South, Southeast service based on the Isle of Wight.
The role offers a hybrid way of working, with some work completed from home, and at the Hub in Newport, as well as attending face-to-face meetings with the foster carers across the island. There will be a requirement to occasionally attend the Registered Office in Salisbury for Team Meetings and our Fostering Panel.
This is a great opportunity for someone who has the drive and ambition to provide high-quality foster placements for children in the area where we know that there is a shortfall of foster families for children who need care.
Five Rivers works from a Trauma-informed (ATIC) model, integrating our fostering, residential, clinical, and education services to achieve the best possible outcomes for young people. Teams are supported by a psychologist and a therapeutic practitioner, who are also foster support workers and business support coordinators. This, alongside manageable workloads, means social workers have the time and resources they need to provide high-quality support to their foster families.

You will directly support our foster carers with realistic caseloads, which enables a higher level of supervision, Monitoring, and intervention. As a supervising social worker, you will be working within a trauma-informed practice model that is continually evolving; you will support recruitment events and complete Form F Assessments.
A supervising social worker needs to be a team player and want to achieve the best possible outcome for all our foster carers and children. You will need to be registered with Social Work England and have a formal social work qualification.
The role also requires you to have access to a car for completing visits and the right to work in the UK.

You will support potential foster carers through the Form F process and panel process, undertake competence-based Form F Assessments, work closely with other members of the Five Rivers Child Care Family Placement Service, return the completed Form F Assessment report and all supporting documentation to the company, complete the Form F Assessment within a timescale of between 12 -14 weeks and be submitted to Five Rivers Child Care for quality assurance process.
Complete all amendments/follow-up requests once the Form F Assessment has been vetted by Five Rivers Child Care and before presentation to one of Five Rivers Child Care Fostering service panels. Present the family to the fostering service panel once all documentation has been signed off.
You will be paid up to £2,500 per assessment.
Essential Criteria:
• Recognised professional social work qualification. (DipSW or equivalent)
• Must have a current Social Work England registration
• Knowledge of childcare legislation and other relevant legislation/initiatives about foster care.
• Experience working within a fostering service

Hours
The rota is based on 39 hours per week, with a shift pattern of 2 on and 4 off, however, you will need to be flexible in this depending on the home's needs; attendance at the team meetings will also be compulsory.
Part of the role involves some overnight stays in the home. You will need to do between 2 and 3 of these ‘sleep-ins’ per week, so the salary advertised includes the payment for an average of 8 sleep-ins per month. For each sleep-in, you receive an additional £50 per night - if you completed eight sleep-ins per month, that's equivalent to £4800 p.a.

As a supervising social worker, you will be working within a trauma-informed practice model that is continually evolving; you will support recruitment events and complete Form F Assessments.
A supervising social worker needs to be a team player and want to achieve the best possible outcome for all our foster carers and children. You will need to be registered with Social Work England and have a formal social work qualification.

We are looking for a Supervising Social Worker to work in our West Country service based in our Exeter office covering carers in Exeter and other parts of Devon and West Somerset.
The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with some work completed from home, face-to-face meetings with foster carers across Devon and West Somerset. Team meetings held in our Exeter or Plymouth offices. You would join a thriving and growing community of foster carers and a team of staff with a strong, welcoming, and child-centred ethos.
This is a part-time role covering 3 days a week.
Five Rivers works from a Trauma-informed (ATIC) model, integrating our fostering, residential, clinical, and education services to achieve the best possible outcomes for young people. Teams are supported by a psychologist and a therapeutic practitioner, who are also foster support workers and business support coordinators. This, alongside manageable workloads, means social workers have the time and resources they need to provide high-quality support to their foster families.

You will directly support our foster carers with realistic caseloads, which enables a higher level of supervision, Monitoring, and intervention. As a supervising social worker, you will be working within a trauma-informed practice model that is continually evolving, you will support recruitment events and complete Form F Assessments.
A supervising social worker needs to be a team player and want to achieve the best possible outcome for all our foster carers and children. You will need to be registered with Social Work England and have a formal social work qualification.

Our fantastic Partnership Agency, Safehouses Fostering, is looking for a Team Manager based in our office in Oldham. You will have the opportunity to grow and develop your skills in this role. We are interested in speaking with current Team Managers, Senior or Advanced Practitioners for this opportunity.
As a Team Manager, you will work closely with our service manager to help shape, influence, and implement the future growth of this service from Greater Manchester to West Yorkshire areas.
You will be supporting the service manager by managing a team, so someone with strong leadership qualities and a passion for improving outcomes for children is desirable for this role, you must be registered with Social Work England and either hold a Management or Leadership qualification or be prepared to undertake training on this.
Part of your role as team manager will be Fostering Panel Advisor, so a keen eye for detail will be essential.

In addition to the full range of administrative duties that arise in the office, you will also be required to take minutes, write reports, and provide detailed oversight of financial transactions such as carer payments and responding to general inquiries.
You will be responsible for the line management of both Senior and Business support coordinators within your area.
This busy and demanding role will allow you to demonstrate your multitasking skills, using your initiative and confidence to approach tasks independently.
Occasional travel between office locations to support across venues is a requirement. Local agreements will be discussed at the interview.
This part-time role is based in our Midlands offices, either Bromsgrove or Chesterfield.
Management of a small office-based team, practical communication skills and leadership are all essential to the role.
