Benny’s Top 4 Summer Activities

Hello again, Benny here!

I can’t believe it is July already! I have been really enjoying my time visiting children and young people in Five Rivers’ care. As we can go out and do more now and it is nearly the summer holidays, I would like to share with you my favourite summer activities for you to try.

Playing outdoors

When the weather is nice, I love to make the most out of it by playing outdoors. So far in the last year, I have been to lots of outdoor places such as The Angel of the North, and the Salisbury Cathedral Gardens. I am definitely going to spend my summer playing outdoors as much as possible, and hopefully will eat a few straw-beary ice creams along the way.

Playing sports

In the summer, it’s easier to get out and play sports. Not only is it fun to play sports, but it’s also really good for you and you can play whilst social distancing. One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to keep fit! Read all about my other New Year’s Resolutions. My friends at The Spires School taught me how to play basketball. I like this one because even if you don’t have lots of people, you can still have fun bouncing the ball and throwing it through the hoop.

Going on a picnic

One of my other favourite summer activities is going on a picnic. What is your favourite food to take on a picnic? Mine is blueBEARY muffins! It’s just so nice to be able to get out and you could even do this alongside one of the other activities like playing sport. We had a picnic at The Spires for VE Day and I loved it (especially the cake).

Getting Creative

We can’t always guarantee nice weather in summer, so for days when it’s not so sunny, there are lots of activities you can do indoors. One of my favourites is painting! If you want to read more of my favourite indoor activities, visit my Fun While Social Distancing blog post. Another way I get creative is writing. I love writing my blog posts or writing about all the fun things I’ve been doing. Maybe you could even keep a diary!

I’d love to hear all about your favourite summer activities! Make sure you check into the Five Rivers social media to see what I get up to!

Until next time,

Benny
