Clannad Residential Receives a ‘Good’ Ofsted Report

We’re delighted to announce that our specialist children’s home, Clannad, has been rated a ‘Good’ with outstanding features in a recent Ofsted inspection.

The report recognised how the staff create “a strong family ethos” and how they’re led by a long-standing registered manager who the children refer to as “the ‘mother’ of the home”.

As a Social Enterprise, we provide safe, homely environments and specialist trauma-informed care for children with complex needs. Care staff and psychologists work one-to-one with children to establish positive relationships, good communication and healthy routines.

Situated in Greater London, the team at Clannad look after children aged 6-12. The staff team create a strong sense of belonging and ‘family’ for children who cannot live with their birth families.

The report captured how “annual summer holidays and sit-down Sunday lunches reflect the family culture. The staff’s nurturing approach is unquestionably child focused. Staff read children bedtime stories and settle them in bed with their favourite cuddly toys. Children are happy, have fun and develop trusting relationships with staff. Some children who have left the home keep in touch with the manager and the team.”

A staff member added, “I’ve always worked with children. I love children and they are just amazing. I love working for Five Rivers. Five Rivers is my family and it’s a home from home.”

The Ofsted report recognised what a strong focus there is on the children living there, with their needs and rights being at the heart of everything the staff team think about.
